The Gift of Giving Back Slideshow!

It's been a while!!!

Life has been hectic and we are always on the go...Sometimes a good thing but sometimes we often neglect the simple things like updating your blog.

I thought I would post a slideshow from the Burlington Eagles Hockey organization. There are approximately 30 hockey teams in the organization. The age of the boys range from about 6 to 17 years old. All the children, parents and friends contributed to this food drive. The food was collected and given to the Salvation Army. Please view the slideshow for all the pictures from this event. The outcome was amazing :o)

Hockey Season has begun!!!

The game of our lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get Rink Ready...

He Shoots, He Scores!
Playing hockey has often been described as 80% mental and 20% physical - there is no denying that a player’s mindset has a direct affect on big game performance.

Parents have a great opportunity to positively influence their son or daughter’s mental skill development. Here are the two biggest keys to performing well under pressure situations …

1. Confidence

Believe in yourself! If you think you can you will and if you think you can’t you won’t. Positive thinking breeds positive results. Practice visualizing yourself performing well and use positive self-talk to build your confidence.

2. Attitude

View big games as a great opportunity to improve as a player. Look forward to stepping out onto that ice and get excited! – not nervous. Enjoy the moment and concentrate only on doing your best and not about winning or loosing.

It is important to realize that everything the body does is a direct result of what the mind tells it to do.

Too often, the only reason players do not perform well in big games is because they lack the confidence and right attitude – not the physical skills.

Enjoy!!!!

Grandpa

Well, Grandpa this is for you!

Last week I was having supper with my Grandpa and he asked me if he could pay me to do him a favour..."pay me for what?". He said "well, for taking a picture of a picture."

He was looking through a war magazine and came across a photograph of him when he was about 20! The very first picture in the slideshow is the photograph of him from the war titled "Draining the Devil's Brigade". I thought it would be cool if we had the old picture with a new picture of him displaying his medals. So, I told him to be ready and Monday morning we will have coffee and go out on the town for some photographs to honour his bravery and love of this Country. Grandpa was like a kid in a Candystore. He was so full of life and smiles. It was a really fun outing. The other person in the photo was my brother Quiston. Quiston came along for the adventure. Afterwards we all went for lunch where he proudly wore his medal's...I am not sure when he actually took them off. A lady at lunch said "thank-you sir for what you did"...he said "you are welcome but I am sorry I can't say it was my pleasure"...no I guess not. I really love the song in the slideshow. I feel it is a happy up beat song that reminds us that we can dance. We can dance and celebrate life because of so many wonderful people in this world that put their life in jeopardy to give us freedom. Thank you to all the soldiers out there!
